Robust filtered Smith predictors for networked control systems with packet-based data transmission

Filtered Smith predictors are well established for controlling linear plants with constant time delays. Apart from this classical application scenario, they also employed within networked control loops, where the measurements sent in separate packets over transmission channels that subject to time-varying Consequently, tools stability analysis, e.g., delay systems, have be extended facilitate an explicit consideration of network-induced effects such as packet skipping and disordering packets. The present paper illustrates delays and, particularly important, packetized character transmissions explicitly taken into account analysis. Three network protocols, which use different selection hold mechanisms, considered state criteria robust feedback loops filtered predictors. They based on small gain theorem allow a computationally inexpensive way check case uncertain plant models bounded communication channels.
